Review of Simulation Modeling Approaches in Water Resources Management
Main Article Content
Abstract
Over the past few decades, numerous computer simulation models have been developed to simulate various problems in water resources engineering, offering an alternative to costly and time-consuming physical models. This paper reviews research efforts related to simulation models and their applications, focusing on scientific research where these models have been implemented. The review analyzes the most important hydrological and hydraulic simulation software used in scientific research over recent decades. The research focuses on the characteristics of these models and the differences between them in terms of methodology and application. The paper provides valuable insights and guidance for researchers wishing to apply these models to better select the most appropriate model for the problems they need to solve and to enhance the accuracy of their results
